Volume III provides primary materials on the vivid controversy that engulfed the Company at one of the most crucial moments in this transition, leading to the British government's first intervention in 1772-3 to reconstruct the Company's management both at home and in India. The controversy is examined through two publications, William Bolts' Considerations on India Affairs (1772) and Harry Verelst's AView of the Rise, Progress and Present State of the English Government inBengal (1772).
