Although primarily designed as a supplement to Soil Mechanics: Basic Concepts and Engineering Applications, this book can be used as anindependent problem solving text, since there is no specific reference to any equation or figure in the main book and contains problems and fully-worked solutions. Written for university students taking first-degree courses in civil engineering, environmental and agricultural engineering, its main aim is to simulate problem solving learning as well as facilitating self-teaching. The special structure of the book makes it possible to be used in two, three and four year undergraduate courses in soil mechanics.
