This book investigates the Holy Spirit's illuminating, penetrating, and purifying work through fire in the believer's life. In it the physical and spiritual concepts of light and fire as forces that warm, comfort, burn, and purge are examined. Parallels between physical laws of science and spiritual laws that created them are illuminated via biblical light and fire references. These are analyzed in relation to the author's own journey of light, fire, and beauty for ashes wrought through experience as caregiver for her late mother and through famous and not so famous biblical and historical Christian testimonies of those who have experienced the light of the gospel and God's Holy Spirit fire firsthand. It shares how doing so profoundly changed lives and set ablaze the lives they touched with the power of God. Although this book doesn't answer every question about baptism(s) in the Holy Spirit, it has deepened the author's understanding through further study of the Bible and other Christians' experiences as well as her own. West has discovered that she has only just begun to uncover that "lamp under a basket" which is "the light of the world." May reading this book have a similar impact on readers and inspire them to study God's word--the light of life.
