Play and Learn is a collection of three books which aims to teach English to preschool children in a fun meaningful way.
Each book in the series seeks to develop age-appropriate skills through activities, exercises, song and poems that allow students to acquire the language in a natural way.
Play and Learn books use a communicative approach and a teaching methodology that consists of:
-Presentation of vocabulary through attractive pictures of items that children are familiar with. Vocabulary is reinforced with language structures so children can store the information (silent period) and then use it to begin to say single words or ready-made short phrases (beginning-to-talk period).
-Excercises and activities that allow stdudents to reinforce what they learned. Themes are interconnected so that children can learn, practice, and review different thems simultaneously.
Explanations are easy to follow, which eases the teacher's task of making English learning more interesting and interactive.
-Listening activities: visual-auditory exercises, song and poems related to the topic seen. All the activities come on a CD designed to improve student's listening skills and pronunciation as well as review what they've learned.
-A skill assesment chart to help the teacher assess the skill the students should have developed.
All these make Play and Learn an excellent means to help preschoolers learn English as a second language and have fun in the process.
